Abstract: North Mara Gold Mine Company has been practicing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the neighboring community since early 2000s. However, the information on the influence of CSR on the wellbeing of the households living around the company remains unclear. Therefore, this study examined the influence of CSR practices on the wellbeing of the surrounding household in six villages around the North Mara Gold Mine, using the cross sectional design with 358 households as respondents. Data collection involved a questionnaire, focus group discussions and an interview schedule. Analysis of data involved the Ordinal Logistic Regression Model to establish the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable. Qualitative data was analyzed using the content analysis approach. The findings indicate that CSR practices, such as company support on household income generating activities, education, water, health and road services, provision of markets for local goods and employment have influence on the wellbeing of households living around the mining area. The study recommends that company should be proactive and strategic towards CSR implementation and embed CSR into the company’s core values and policies as one of the main strategies to improve the wellbeing of nearby communities.
