The study is a case study that used voluntary response sampling techniques with 20 students and 6 lecturers. Findings revealed that students used various smartphone applications such as YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram for English skills enhancement. Smartphone applications helped students to acquire speaking and listening skills in a variety of ways. Furthermore, it was found that various strategies such as recorded videos, playing games, audio songs and WhatsApp conversations were used to enhance their language skills mastery. The researchers recommend that the university authorities should ensure availability of internet so that students may use their smartphone applications effectively to enhance English skills. Lecturers should make use smartphone applications too because the method is a powerful tool for effective learning.
